Community Partners

A team of dedicated and compassionate individuals works together to help ensure that each organ or tissue donation reaches those in need. Each of our professional partners plays a crucial role in the donation process. Their expertise and expediency help pave the way for others to receive the Gift of Life.

Hospitals

Tennessee Donor Services partners with more than 150 hospitals in Tennessee and 8 counties in southwest Virginia. The hospital’s primary goal is to treat and save their patients’ lives.  It is only when all lifesaving efforts have been exhausted or death has been declared that the hospital notifies TDS. Collaboration with our hospitals ensures continual support of the families who rely on us.

Tennessee Department of Safety

TN Department of Safety Driver Services Centers play a crucial role in donation by offering every Tennessean the opportunity to say “yes” to becoming an organ and tissue donor when applying for or renewing their TN driver’s license or ID. With their help, we reach more people with the life-saving message of donation and, ultimately, save lives in Tennessee every day.

High Schools

Before students apply for their permit or driver’s license, we work to ensure each has the information necessary to discuss their decision to be an organ and tissue donor with their family. TDS offers in-class presentations designed to educate high school students and answer any questions about organ and tissue donation.

For more information, or to schedule a presentation at your school, please email DLTNinfo@dcids.org.

County Clerks

The Tennessee County Clerk Organ Donation Awareness Foundation works with the Tennessee organ donor programs-Tennessee Donor Services and Mid-South Transplant Foundation-to educate Tennesseans on the critical importance of becoming an organ and tissue donor. Created in 1996, the Foundation ask citizens to donate $1 when they visit their county clerk’s office. The foundation has raised over 5 million dollars in support of educational efforts since its inception.

Funeral Homes

Tennessee Donor Services works in close partnership with funeral homes to:

  • Work to further enhance relationships with funeral homes, hospitals and medical examiners that share in making end-of-life processes as comforting for families as possible
  • Lead the development and implementation of educational and training programs with TDS and our other partners

TDS has staff dedicated specifically to supporting funeral homes 24/7. In addition, TDS works closely with the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association as both organizations serve the same donor families and communities.
